SSI International Training Director for both Recreational & Technical Training,
working in the Australian Office.
Having travelled extensively around the world, from Cave diving in Mexico to Trimix Diving in Sri Lanka, Paul brings with him a wealth of knowledge in both the technical and recreational diving arena.
Paul’s diving career started way back in 1991 in Melbourne’s majestic Port Phillip Bay. His love for diving was instant and his passion for the sport inspired him to become a PADI Divemaster in 1992. In 1996 Paul bought his first Dive Shop “Diver Instruction Services” and became an NASDS Instructor. With the merge of NASDS/SSI he began teaching SSI in 1999.
In the late 90’s Paul found his real passion within the diving industry – Technical and Cave diving. Following this obsession, Paul went on to become an IANTD Technical Instructor in 1998 and an IANTD Instructor Trainer in 2002. Paul completed the gamut of technical and cave diving expertise by achieving Cave Diving Instructor certification in 2004.
The desire to offer a full range of Technical Programs lead Paul to cross over to TDI and, glutton for punishment that he is, to purchase another dive shop, “Melbourne Diving School”. Whilst running these two dive stores, Paul continued to expand his already impressive qualifications by completing SSI Instructor Certification.
Paul’s wealth of experience meant he was also able to use his acquired knowledge and expertise to help devise the SSI TechXR Programs and Standards. An invitation to Bali by SSI also gave Paul the opportunity to participate in the first SSI Poseidon MKVI Rebreather program and help with SSO MKVI Instructor diving programs which then led to his appointment as SSI International Technical Training Director in January 2013.
